Pelicans Roster 2019

New Orleans Pelicans: A Look Back at the 2019-2020 Season

A Season of Change

The 2019-2020 season was a year of transition for the New Orleans Pelicans. After a disappointing finish the previous year, the team made several changes to its roster, including trading away franchise cornerstone Anthony Davis.

Early Struggles

The Pelicans struggled out of the gate, winning just 13 of their first 30 games. Injuries to key players, including Zion Williamson, hampered the team's progress. Despite some flashes of brilliance, the Pelicans found themselves in the bottom half of the Western Conference standings.

Improved Play in the Second Half

After the All-Star break, the Pelicans showed signs of improvement. They went 18-22 over the final 40 games of the season, including a stretch where they won six straight games. Brandon Ingram emerged as a star, averaging over 25 points per game.

Missed Playoffs

Despite their improved play, the Pelicans fell short of the playoffs, finishing with a 33-49 record. They finished 13th in the Western Conference, one spot out of the final playoff spot.

Key Players

* Zion Williamson (13.0 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 2.1 APG) * Brandon Ingram (25.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 4.2 APG) * Lonzo Ball (11.8 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 7.0 APG) * JJ Redick (13.6 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 1.8 APG) * Derrick Favors (9.4 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 1.3 APG)

Looking Ahead

The Pelicans enter the offseason with a promising young core led by Williamson and Ingram. They will need to add some pieces to their roster, particularly in the frontcourt, but they have the potential to be a contender in the Western Conference in the years to come.
